Cold snap from Friday. A strong cold front moves in the 21st and the mornings turn very cold for days after, so layer up for the weekend.

Two to plan: the fair opens and the documentary festival starts.
- Expointer — Opens Saturday 29 August in Esteio, 8h to 20h, pedestrian entry R$22, through 6 September. Take the train to Esteio station or the special bus line; expect it full on the weekend.
- 2º POADOC — Starts Monday 31 August, free, through 5 September. Documentaries at the Cinemateca Capitólio, labs and talks at the Goethe-Institut. Opening night is "Para os Guardados".
